The Commission

What to know
before we begin.

Everything a first client asks, answered the way the house answers in the fitting room — plainly.

How does a commission begin?

With an appointment, not a transaction. We talk about what the garment is for, look at cloth together, and take your measure — one sitting, written down for life.

Do I need an appointment?

The house works by appointment — it keeps the fitting room yours. Book here or write on WhatsApp; you'll have an answer the same day.

What happens at the fittings?

A first commission usually carries two: the basted fitting, where the garment is tacked together and everything can still move, and a forward fitting close to finish. Fittings are where bespoke earns its name — we fit until it is right.

How long does a commission take?

Typically a few weeks from measure to finish, depending on the garment and the cloth's journey. The house gives a real date at the first appointment, and keeps it.

I need something urgently. Possible?

Sometimes, honestly. Urgent work is taken by request, subject to the workshop's book — bring the date, and the house will answer plainly before anything begins.

Can I bring my own cloth?

Yes. Bring the length to the atelier; the house will tell you honestly whether it deserves the cutting, and how much is needed. You are quoted for the making alone.

What is 'the measure'? Will I be measured every time?

Once. Your measure is taken in one sitting and kept by the house — on paper, and in your Wardrobe. If the years change you, it is corrected at a fitting, not retaken.

What about care and alterations afterwards?

A RAJASAB garment is looked after by the hands that made it — pressing, adjustment, repair. Bring it back; aftercare is part of the commission, not a favour.

I don't live in Bombay. Can we still work together?

The first commission is best made in person — the measure wants your actual shoulders in the room. After that, the relationship travels: established clients commission again from the measure the house already holds.

We are planning a wedding. Where do we start?

With a consultation rather than an order — dates, functions, who is being dressed. The Wedding has its own page.

What does a commission cost?

Bespoke is quoted, not priced from a card — the cloth and the construction decide the figure, and you are told it plainly at the atelier before anything is cut.

Then begin

Be measured once.
Be remembered always.
